Colorado fishing licenses

Fisherman with troutThe best water grows the baddest fish! Aurora's reservoirs have some of the best water around and have grown four state record fish: Tiger muskie, catfish, smallmouth bass and white sucker. A Colorado Fishing license is required for everyone 16 and older to fish at Aurora's reservoirs.

The reservoirs do not sell fishing licenses, please plan ahead and purchase a license in advance at a local sporting goods store. In Aurora, fishing licenses can be purchased at Gander Mountain, Big Five, Sports Authority, K-Mart, Wal-Mart or Valley Country Bait & Tackle. Annual fishing licenses go on sale in mid-March. For more info, or to purchase a fishing license online, visit Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Aurora and Quincy Reservoirs are stocked by Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Contact the Aurora Reservoir at 303-326-8444 for the latest fishing conditions.

What is a "bag" limit? How is it different from "possession" limit?
Colorado Division of Parks & Wildlife defines bag limit as the maximum number of fish you can take in a day, regardless of what you do with them that day. Possession limit is defined as the maximum number of fish allowed at any time including in the field, while transporting, at home or other places of storage.
You can share or give away what you catch, but it must be to a person with a fishing license who has not caught and kept their limit. The fish counts towards the bag and possession limit of the person who caught the fish AND to the person it is shared with. Keep your fishery healthy by obeying bag and possession limits.
